Are You or Someone You Know Facing A Housing Crisis Like Homelessness, Foreclosure, Couch Surfing, Struggling To Find Safe Affordable Housing?
The stories of those who are struggling for survival in this country have been silenced. Many people in our world do not believe that poor people exist in the U.S. nor do they recognize that homelessness is an issue. A Truth Commission is a place where the truth can be told about what's happening in this country and where it can be shown that each story has one thing in common: Prevention. As examples of the
invisible struggles of so many in our community, personal testimonies that reveal housing and human rights violations will be shared with community leaders.
Join us to hear stories, share your own, and create solutions to these problems.
Please Check Out Our Flyer and Plan To Be There!!!!
Note: If you have a story about homelessness or foreclosure that you would like to have documented as part of this Truth Commission - either yours or someone with whom you've worked - please contact Nick Coulter at NJ.Coulter@gmail.com.
This event will be cosponsored by: Empower Welfare Rights, House of Mercy, Rochester Poor Peoples Coalition, The College at Brockport’s Social Work Department, The Greater Rochester Collaborative MSW Program of Nazareth College and the College at Brockport, St. Joseph’s Neighborhood Center, The Greater Rochester Chapter of the National Organization for Women, Flying Squirrel Collective, Rochester Indymedia, National Association of Social Workers - New York State Chapter: Genesee Valley Division, and Rochester Food Not Bombs
